Mission and Vision of Eagle Heights Presbyterian Church
Who
Are We? (IDENTITY)
Sinners
created in the image of God and saved by grace in the gospel of Jesus
Christ, who increasingly find our joy in living for the glory of God.
What
Are We Trying to Accomplish? (VISION)
To bring the people in the Winchester region and the world where God leads
us into a life-transforming relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, whereby
they live joyfully for the praise of His glory.
How
Do We Plan to Accomplish Our Vision? (MISSION)
By proclaiming the love of God in Jesus Christ for all peoples that we might make followers of
Christ. We do this as we:
-
Give
ourselves passionately to God in prayer, worship, and study of His
Word, both individually and corporately, that He would glorify
Himself in and through us
-
Live
and teach a Biblically-based worldview
-
Engage
in a lifestyle of word and deed that attracts non-believers and
unchurched people from across ethnic and socio-economic boundaries
in our community to unite with us as members of Christ’s body, the
church
-
Build
strategic bridges between our church and the communities in which we
live, work, and play
-
Plant
new churches and partner with existing churches and missions in our
community and around the world to enlarge our sphere of kingdom
influence
-
Commit
ourselves to make mature and equipped followers of Christ, according
to His Word
What
Is Most Important to Us? (CORE VALUES)
-
-
To
be a church with:
-
a
passion for worship
-
a
hunger for God’s Word
-
a
dependence upon prayer
-
a
focus on grace
-
a
desire for holiness
-
a
sense of community
-
a
heart for the lost
As
we express these values, we will be a church that emphasizes:
Gospel
Transformation
In
a world of brokenness, we seek to be a place where hearts and homes
are healed by the love of God
Missional
Living
In
a world of self-absorption, we seek to bless our world with deeds of
Christ-like compassion, mercy, and grace
Authentic
Community
In
a world of disconnection, we seek to be a place of unusual devotion
to one another and those in the community we befriend
How
Do We Serve? (PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY)
By
studying our surrounding culture to discover what can be done,
without compromising Biblical principles,
to eliminate barriers to reaching the unsaved and the unchurched:
-
Every
member understanding he is not a consumer but part of our essential
ministry team, serving in love and truth the church and community
around us with the gifts and graces God gives
-
Church
leaders not being the primary ministers but rather equippers of the
members who do the ministry
